06.12.2008 Scotty Newlands boards the "Holiday Express"

It was great to see people brave the cold weather in Beaverton to come up to the see the show! Although the crowd was small, the support was big! It was great to see people in the audience out to enjoy our performance and raise some desperately needed funds for Acacia House.

A few of us from "The Wiz" were battling various forms of viruses and colds, but that wasn't going to stop us for putting on the best show we could!

Thanks again to everyone who came up to see it!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

----------------------|----------------------|------------------ ------

For one night only, I will be making the trek north to Beaverton to take part in a special holiday show to raise money for Acacia House in Kenya. The show, entitled "HOLIDAY EXPRESS" will feature a number of the actors from "The Wiz" and will take the audience on a trip as we explore how Christmas is celebrated around the world!

The show will be held at the Beaverton Town Hall and it starts at 7:30 pm.

It's sure to be a fun show - and certainly a great cause. 'Tis the season to give back to other and celebrate with those you love.

It's too bad that this is only a one-night event - but every bit helps when you're raising money.

Hope to see you out!

16.11.2008 Scotty Newlands plays "The Wiz" in "THE WIZ"

There are few words to say about such a giving cast and an amazing show. I was so honoured to be a part of it and be given the opportunity to work with some truly wonderful people. I am very happy that we were able to raise some much needed funds for KW Cares. Your generousity towards the cause and interest in my performance really made it a joy to get up on stage and really let loose with my character!

It was a good workout indeed - but I loved every minute of it! There are some truly talented people who are associated with T3 Productions and I hope that I am able to work with them again.

Thank you again to everyone who came out to see the show! I look forward to the next one!

All the best

It is playing at the Papermill Theatre at Todmorden Mills.

16.11.2008 Scotty Newlands Sings the National Anthem for the Toronto Raptors

Talk about a great match! Our hometown boys did us proud at the ACC against Miami! IT was a great game indeed!

It was really nice to see all the CF personnel out to enjoy the game with their families. A special thanks to those kind members of our community who donated tickets so that our people could see that game - your generousity is greatly appreciated.

It was a new experience to stand on the floor of the ACC - without ice beneath my feet! It's quite a different sensation - but one that I could easily get used to.

My thanks to everyone in the Toronto Raptors Basketball Club and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd for another great CF Appreciation event!

Take care!

----------------------|----------------------|------------------ ------

It looks like this may be my last CF Appreciation event of 2008. What a great way to go out with my debut appearance for the Toronto Raptors!

Come on down to the ACC, support our troops and cheer on our boys as they take the court!

Cheers!

08.11.2008 Scotty Newlands sings the National Anthem for the Toronto Maple Leafs

Wow! What a great game! Both the Leafs and the Habs fought hard all night! It was great to see the Leafs take the win! What a match!

The inductees from the Hall of Fame were in great form and it was fantastic to chat with some of hokcey's legends!

On a sombre note, it was a very humbling experience to share the ice with some true heroes - our veterans. Singing the anthem tonight was an amazing experience once again as a part of the Remembrance Day service. My thanks to everyone in the HMCS York colour guard who joined me tonight and to the folks in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment for making this event possible once again

Thank you all...

Continuing with a proud tradition for me, I have been asked to sing the anthem for the Remembrance Day service game which will take place on the 8th of November. This is probably the most important game of the year for me - as it is time to reflect on the brave men and women who served both domestically and overseas. They fought for our freedom and many of them never returned home again. They fought and paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we can be free.

The Leafs face off against the Montreal Canadiens. Tickets can be purchased here.

It's sure to be a great game - c'mon out - show your support for the veterans and enjoy a great night of hockey!!

Hope to see you at the Air Canada Centre!!!

02.02.2008 Scotty Newlands Sings the Anthems for the Toronto Marlies and Toronto Maple Leafs

Well, it was an incredible day overall! Although the Marlies lost to Rochester, the Leafs beat Ottawa in a well fought match!

It was a true thrill to share the ice with the Chief of the Defence Staff - General Rick Hillier during the pre-game ceremonies. Everyone enjoyed themselves and a lot of deserving troops got the chance to see a Leafs game - some for the first time!

My thanks to everyone who made this night possible. I'm always honoured to be a part of it. For those who missed it, you can watch it on the press page.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!

Well, it's a new year and so far, it's been a series of new adventures and opportunities for me. I continue to represent the Cdn Forces - this time not as a Private, but as a newly commissioned officer - a 2nd Lieutenant. Fortunately enough, I will still be able to perform my vocal duties whenever possible.

So here's a double whammie!!

This day will be a busy one! I will be singing the anthems for the AHL Toronto Marlies at 4pm at RICOH Coliseun and for the Toronto Maple Leafs at the ACC at 7pm. I will again be accompanied by a composite band from 32 CBG for the Marlie's game and the Central Band of the Canadian Forces for the Leaf's game.

The Marlies face off against the Rochester Americans, and the Leafs take on the Ottawa Senators.

It's going to be a tight squeeze, but I'm happy to oblige for the CF.

I'm sure they're going to be great events - hope to see you there!
